As the Iran war stretches into its second month, anger is mounting among some White House officials, according to a new report.
Discontent over the Middle East conflict is concentrated among younger, “more-right wing” staffers, an unnamed source with knowledge of the matter told Politico.
“They’re very frustrated,” the individual said. “They didn’t love the war to start with, and since it began, the constantly contradictory messaging from the president himself, is just brutal, brutal for staff to deal with and making their life really hard. He puts his people in a really tough position, especially people who are public-facing.”
The 79‑year‑old Republican president and other senior administration officials have offered up multiple justifications for the war, citing an imminent Iranian threat to the U.S. while also pointing to regime change as a factor. Trump has also sent mixed signals about when the conflict might end and whether or not he intends to deploy ground troops.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has trolled Donald Trump once again, questioning the president’s knowledge of America’s national bird after he posted a photo of a dead falcon and claimed windmills are killing “our beautiful Bald Eagles.”
In Trump’s latest attack against windmills, more accurately called wind turbines, he shared a photo to Truth Social on Tuesday of a bird lying on the ground in front of several of the energy producers and wrote, “Windmills are killing all of our beautiful Bald Eagles!”
But as several outlets have pointed out, the photo is of a falcon, not a bald eagle, and it was taken in Israel in 2017. The photo was shared in Israeli newspapers Haaretz in 2017 and The Times of Israel in 2022.
The Department of Energy even shared Trump’s post on social media. The Independent has reached out to the agency asking if it is aware of the photo’s origins.
Reacting to Trump’s post, Newsom’s press team wrote on X, “Dozy Don doesn’t know what America’s bird looks like???”

Protests against immigration enforcement are planned for cities and towns across the country on Saturday after one federal officer fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis and another shot and wounded two people in Portland, Oregon.
The demonstrations come as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security pushes forward in the Twin Cities with what it calls its biggest-ever immigration enforcement operation. President Donald Trump's administration has said both shootings were acts of self-defense against drivers who “weaponized” their vehicles to attack officers.
Indivisible, a social movement organization that formed to resist the Trump administration, said hundreds of protests were scheduled in Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Florida and other states. Many were dubbed “ICE Out for Good” using the acronym for the agency Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Indivisible and its local chapters organized protests in all 50 states last year.
